Letter: Pauls the only GOP candidate concernedabout Constitu

There is growing evidence the Republicans running for president don’t really care much about the Constitution. Beginning with their silence over the wiretapping of our citizens’ telephone conversations without warrants since before 9-11, there is also their reluctance to admit that waterboarding is torture (even though we, the United States, have already deemed it so).

The Republicans also seem to be applying an unconstitutional religious test to their candidates. They claim to be the culture of life, yet under their leadership we’ve lost more Americans than died on 9-11. Borderline poverty kids were denied health care as well. They’re pro-death penalty, even after innocents have been killed. They claim we haven’t been hit since 9-11, yet there are almost 4,000 soldiers dead who would be alive today if they hadn’t been hit.

Adding to this the shredding of our Constitution in the name of security brings to mind Ben Franklin’s famous quote: “Those that would give up freedoms for security deserve neither.”

Ron Paul is the only one running on the Republican ticket concerned about the Constitution and real American values, yet he doesn’t have the support of the voters. That sends a powerful message of what our Republican voters have become — and it is not democracy that they want.

Our elected officials took an oath to uphold the Constitution. Vote for the ones that love America and what it stands for.
